Trying to find a therapist for OCD?
Welcome!
Hi! I'm Theresa (she/they), a therapist in Washington state and also licensed in Pennsylvania, with expertise in treating OCD.
I am especially skilled in treating “rumination as a compulsion”—those mental compulsions that no one else can see you doing but that cause you so much suffering. Ugh, OCD can be so tormenting! But the good news is I have several effective treatments that can help!
I primarily work with adults but will consider working with teens and parents if the online/teletherapy platform is sufficient. It's sometimes more beneficial for a family to consider a group practice that offers in-person, child/teen groups, and parent education groups - all of which are services I don't currently offer.
I look forward to hearing from you!
How I help
Together, we find what works best for you!
I offer effective treatments for OCD:
- Exposure with Response Prevention (ERP)
- Inference-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (I-CBT)
- Metacognitive Therapy (MCT)
- Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE)
I offer an effective treatment for PTSD and grief:
- Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
Let's work together!
A bit about my approach and values

Collaborative
I practice at the intersections of oppression and trauma, healing and liberation. I am committed to creating a space where we can work together through trust and transparency. You are the expert in you and I hope to join you in your process of healing. Together, we can make an effective team.
Kind
I'm interested in fostering humility, kindness, compassion, and a safe environment during therapy. There is so much to be said about the therapeutic alliance. Living with OCD is tough enough—my aim is to maintain space for kindness and warmth in your recovery.
Effective
People with OCD can suffer for an average of 17 years before they connect with a skilled therapist. I want you to have access to effective, up-to-date, science-backed treatments. I also reckon with my profession's oppressive history and acknowledge that science often leaves out the voices of those of us with marginalized identities. While the treatments I provide have proven effective for many, I am open to considering creative ways to heal when what science says works, doesn’t.
Affirming
“In order to perpetuate itself, every oppression must corrupt or distort those various sources of power within the culture of the oppressed that can provide energy for change.” —Audre Lorde
My approach is neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed, anti-racist, queer/trans-affirming, anti-oppressive, anti-capitalist, and liberatory. My personal and professional ethics oblige me to work on dismantling the oppressive systems that hinder our ability to heal.
Fun
We can have some fun with our work! Therapy isn’t always laughs and giggles, but it doesn’t have to be boring or dreadful either. It’s not uncommon for my clients and me to have a good laugh here and there.
How are you feeling?
Are you ready?
Time Limited Treatment
The length of therapy can vary significantly for each individual person. Some clients have met their treatment goals in a few sessions, while others have continued therapy for much longer. The average duration of treatment through ERP is 15–20 sessions, while the average for I-CBT is 12–20 sessions. These are only estimates and may not reflect your individual needs or outcomes.
OCD Recovery is Possible
You deserve a life without torment from obsessional doubts and it's my passion to help you get there!
My personal lived experience and recovery from OCD help me to support others with understanding and non judgment.
I look forward to joining you in your recovery from OCD! It is possible and there is hope!
